Scott Alexander

Scott Alexander is a director of Analytics Group, a Government focused financial and management consulting firm. He has over 15 years experience in financial management, program costing and financial analysis working for Government and large corporates in Australia, Asia and Europe. Scott commenced his career with a Big 4 firm and is a qualified CPA.

Scott lives on the outskirts of Canberra with his wife and a busy family of 5 children and shares 200 acres with a few local kangaroos and other wild life. He enjoys mountain bike and dirt bike riding, running and tennis and, pre-kids, enjoyed his time with the Army Reserve as an Lieutenant.

Scott is new to the Arts sector and is enthusiastic to contribute and learn from an exciting and diverse industry.

Liz Clarke

President

Liz is the Chief Executive Officer of Exhibition Park Corporation and is a member of the Corporation's Board. She has been a public servant for the past 18 years. Liz is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Board member of Transport Training ACT; and the Transport Industries Skills Centre. She is also a member of the Venue Management Association (Asia & Pacific). Liz has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management with Flinders University, South Australia.

 

Edward Eyers

Edward is a solicitor, specialising in commercial and property law. His legal career began in litigation and criminal law, before moving into corporate law. He has spent most of his life in Canberra, studying and working here. He spent several years working at an investment bank in London before returning home to Canberra in 2009. As he gets more brittle, Edward is discovering that his time is more productively spent on the board of ArtSound than trying to keep up with youngsters on the soccer field.

Susanne is an executive search consultant with a background in corporate communications, public affairs and journalism. She has held senior government and private sector positions and is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia.

 

Richard Scherer

Richard Scherer

Richard Scherer has been a media professional for most of his working life, beginning as a newspaper journalist before moving into public affairs and editorial work for a variety of government agencies. He moved into new media about 15 years ago, leading teams responsible for the development of major websites.

Since leaving the public service, Richard has worked in a voluntary and paid capacity for several arts organizations, including the former Canberra Arts Marketing, where he had responsibility for producing a 30-minute weekly program on ArtSound FM.

He produces and presents regularly on Artsound, and has been a Board member since 2008. He supplements this voluntary work with sub-editing at The Canberra Times.

 

Dr Nick Seddon

Dr Nick Seddon

Nick Seddon is a Special Counsel in the Canberra office of Blake Dawson Waldron, lawyers, having formerly spent some 25 years at the Australian National University Law Faculty.  Prior to that he taught at the University of Papua New Guinea.  He is a joint author of Seddon and Ellinghaus, Cheshire & Fifoot's Law of Contract (8th Aus ed 2002) and the author of Seddon, Government Contracts: Federal, State and Local (2nd ed 1999), as well as many articles and conference papers on the law of contract, government contracts, trade practices, property and torts.  He served as a part-time Commissioner on the Australian Law Reform Commission during the late 1980s and early 1990s and has provided advice to governments and the private sector on a range of issues.  In 2000 he was the legal panel member for the racks government's Audit Review of Government Contracts which reported to the Victorian government in May 2000.  He is a board member of CARE Inc Financial Counselling Service as well as ArtSound FM 92.7.   

 

Mr James Steele

James Steele is the Director of Interactive Multimedia Pty Ltd, a consultancy, development and production company specialising in new media. He is also a PhD candidate with Photography and Media Arts in the School of Art at the Australian National University. James has been active in photography, film, radio and video for over thirty years in government, university, industry and community media organisations, including working with the original founders of ArtSound to prepare and present the first licence application to the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal. James is also Adjunt Professional Associate with the Inspire Centre at the University of Canberra.

 

Emeritus Professor Deane Terrell AO


Emeritus Professor Deane Terrell is a Visiting Fellow at College of Business and Economics at The Australian National University (ANU). He is currently Chair of the AARNet Board of Management, Chair of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra Board, Chair of the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation, Chair and Principal Director of the Canberra School of Music Foundation, Chair of The General Sir John Monash Foundation Investment Committee and member of the Board and Awards Committee. Member of the Advisory Board for the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS). He has held directorships on the Board of the Australian Vice-Chancellor's Committee, Australian Education Office (Washington), the Tertiary Education Superannuation Scheme (TESS) and the Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing Interim Board. He was a member of the Business/Higher Education Roundtable, CanTrade and the Canberra Business Council.

 

Professor Adrian Walter AM


Professor Adrian Walter is the Head of School of Music at the Australian National University. A multitalented musician and music scholar, Professor Walter was previously Professor of Music and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Business and Arts at Charles Darwin University (CDU), where he lectured in music history and classical guitar. He studied guitar and cello at Elder Conservatorium of Music and completed his PhD in 19th century performance practice. He was the first Australian guitarist to be invited to perform at the Russian Guitar Festival, 'The Guitar in Russia', and has given masterclasses and lectures at the Royal College of Music, Beijing Central Conservatorium, and the Conservatorium of Music in Krakow. He regularly performs on period instruments with the Italian-based orchestra of the Academy of Nineteenth Century Music in Italy, and was recenttly made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to the arts, particularly in the area of classical guitar performance and musical composition through the Darwin International Guitar Festival, to music education and as a supporter of emerging performers.

 

Ruth Webber

Ruth Webber was a Labor member of the Australian Senate from 2002 to 2008, representing Western Australia.

Ruth was born in Melbourne. Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Webber was actively involved in politics. She held numerous positions within the ALP before her election to the Senate in 2001.

Ruth now lives in Canberra and works as a government relations consultant.

 

Melissa Woodburn

Melissa Woodburn is a Senior Consultant at Canberra based consulting company, Analytics Group.  Melissa is a Chartered Accountant with over 7 years experience in providing business advisory, financial analysis and management, taxation consulting and compliance and financial reporting services to a wide range of entities including individuals, privately owned, publicly listed and federal and state government entities.  Melissa commenced her career as a graduate at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she spent several years working in various roles in numerous Australian capital cities including Adelaide, Perth and Canberra.  Melissa is actively involved in the Institute of Chartered Accountants with her mentoring of future Chartered Accountants, teaching and marking of the CA program.    

Melissa moved to Canberra with her husband over 3 years ago.  In her free time Melissa likes to go walking / hiking with her husband and her dog, Batman! Melissa also likes to play netball and spend time with friends!
