Training Courses
ArtSound FM has a long history providing training for aspiring presenters and refresher courses for anyone wanting to get back into the game. ArtSound FM currently runs in-house training for members and presenters in the following areas:
Introduction to Broadcasting
A six week course (2.5 Hrs per week) designed to provide program production and presentation skills. This includes operation of broadcast panel and equipment, microphone technique, program production and overview of the broadcasting chain. The course equips people with the basics so that they can work with experienced broadcasters and gradually make the transition to full on-air presentation or production.
The next Introduction to Broadcasting course will be offered, and scheduled, for the 4 Tuesdays from 24 August to 14 September 2010, with assessment on 28 September and graduation on 5 October.
Week 1, Tuesday August 24th 6.00pm till 9.00pm
- Course Outline and introduction of course presenters, mentors and trainees.
- ArtSound’s philosophy, policies and obligations, license and legal issues.
- Introduction to ‘technical’ matters, eg signal transmission, switching between studios, turntable operation, etc
Week 2, Tuesday August 31st, 6.30pm till 9.00pm – The studio panel.
Week 3, Tuesday September 7th, 6.30pm till 9.00pm – Radio presentation and studio skills.
Week 4, Tuesday September 14th, 6.30pm till 9.00pm – Program planning and presentation.
Tuesday September 28th, 6.30pm till 9.00pm – Assessment Night
Tuesday October, 6.30pm – Presentation Night

Please note, we have six places available, and these will be allocated to individuals who are prepared to make some commitment to presenting on ArtSound following the course. This is of course very flexible and there are many varying opportunities available to presenters. We are also looking for presenters who have an understanding of Artsound's audience and the programming we offer our listeners.
