Membership Officer
The Membership Officer is primarily responsible for maintaining the Membership Database and communicating with Members regarding their membership. He/She also reports to the General Manager, Business and Administration, and to the Board on Membership matters.
The Membership Officer receives applications from new and renewing members and enters all necessary information into the database, then issues Members Benefit Cards and associated documents to the members. The Membership Officer also sends reminders to all members when their membership renewal falls due.
The Membership Officer prepares a monthly report to the Board on the Membership status, including the current number of members, names of new members and numbers who have not renewed.
Studio Duty Officer
Duty Statement
While we have commercial cleaners to do the general cleaning of our Studio Foyer, corridors and Administration offices, we require a more specialised treatment of our broadcasting and recording studios. The hours are flexible but would require a commitment of at least a half a day per week.
The Duty Officers will be required to:
- Maintain the recording studio, archiving studio, broadcasting studio and production studios in a clean and orderly state. This will include vacuuming the floors, vacuuming and wiping down technical equipment, sterilising telephones and ensuring internal glass is kept clean.
- Ensure all emergency manuals are kept visual and torches are working.
- Ensure all batteries for computer mouse and other equipment are kept charged.
- Ensure there is an adequate supply of membership forms and CD of the Week entry forms available in the appropriate folders
- Attend OH&S talks and understand emergency procedures and contact details.
- Ensure technical equipment is kept in a secure and tidy state
- Maintain the Espresso Coffee Machine in the studio kitchen and ensure kitchen is stocked.
- Be available during the ArtSound Radiothon and Open Day to support managers and volunteers in maintaining order in studios.
- Report any damage or loss of equipment to General Manager Engineering and Development.
Skills required
- A general understanding of technical equipment and its care and upkeep.
- A sense of order and ownership of the role
- Good people and communication skills
- A commitment to at least a 12 month period.
- An ability to work with a team and contribute enthusiasm to this project.
Fine Tuning Editor – POSITION FILLED!
Duty Statement
The Fine Tuning e-newsletter is a quarterly newsletter that we email our members to keep them informed about what is going on at ArtSound. Through the newsletter, we encourage members to visit our website, send them the latest editions of our Program Guide and any promotional information submitted by our Arts Partners.
Specific tasks
- Produce our quarterly Fine Tuning e-newsletter
- Liaise with the Managers, Arts Partnership Officer and the Volunteer Coordinator and Pink Peril Editor for content, photos, logos etc.
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to develop an up to date data base for emailing
- Ensure newsletter is informative, professional looking and up to date.
Skills required
- Competent computer skills
- A good eye for design, layout and detail
- Good writing and editing skills
- A commitment to produce at least 4 editions over a 12 month period.
- An ability to work with a team and contribute enthusiasm to this project.
Grounds and Garden Maintenance Team Leader
Duty Statement
Specific tasks
- Coordinate, in cooperation with the General Manager Business and Administration and the Volunteer Coordinator, a team of volunteers to maintain the gardens and grounds at the Manuka Arts Centre
- Organise a roster for volunteers to mow when necessary, tend gardens and generally keep the grounds looking fresh and tidy.
- Organise a volunteer to take occasional photos and write a small report to be posted on the web page and the Pink Peril (our internal volunteer newsletter)
- Encourage your team to attend special volunteer get togethers

Community Events Team Coordinator
Duty Statement
Specific tasks
- Coordinate, in cooperation with the Volunteer Coordinator, a team of volunteers to represent ArtSound at Festivals and special events around Canberra in the ArtSound Van.
- Organise Volunteers to hand out ArtSound Programs, encourage membership and in general promote ArtSound to the general public.
- Coordinate with the General Manager Development and Engineering to arrange to play music from the van, or to broadcast ArtSound FM at the
- Ensure van is fuelled and clean and all promotional material is prepared
- Ensure van is returned to ArtSound and all left over material is correctly stored at the ArtSound studios.
- Organise a volunteer to take photos of the event and write a small report to be posted on the web page and the Pink Peril (our internal volunteer newsletter)

Audio Production Assistant(s) – ONE POSITION FILLED!
Duty Statement
ArtSound is seeking energetic and technically inclined persons to undertake or support various audio production assignments associated with our radio broadcasting service at our Manuka studios.
A working knowledge/familiarity of audio editing software such as Cool Edit, Adobe Audition etc would be an advantage, plus a general understanding of basic audio equipment and production techniques.
The work encompasses a wide range of activities including:
simple voice-over recordings to the more complex multi-track music and arts magazine programs. You may also have a good radio voice, but this is not essential.
This is an ideal opportunity to gain work experience and free on the job training preparatory to a professional career in the music/radio industry, whilst working in a convivial atmosphere in some of the best equipped studios in town.
