Explore the visionary world of Enrico Taglietti (1926–2019) in the landmark exhibition Taglietti: Life in Design, celebrating the centenary of one of Australia’s most original and influential architects. Known as The Global Architect, Taglietti’s innovative design principles have left a lasting imprint on Canberra—the city he and his wife Franca proudly called home—and shaped modern Australian architecture.

This immersive exhibition traces Taglietti’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in Ethiopia and architectural studies in Milan to his arrival in Australia, showcasing how global influences blended into his bold, sculptural use of light, materiality, and spatial experiences. Visitors engage with seven specially created spatial interventions that bring to life Taglietti’s unique design language, alongside original drawings, models, photographs, and rarely seen personal objects, fashion, and furniture. Together, these elements reveal the holistic approach that defined his creative ethos.

Experience key milestones such as the groundbreaking 1955 Italy in Australia exhibition at David Jones Sydney, where Taglietti introduced Milanese design to a global audience, exemplifying the power of design diplomacy. Discover iconic Canberra projects like the Cinema Center, Sydney’s St Anthony’s Parish Church, and intimate glimpses into his extraordinary residential works, highlighting Taglietti’s collaborative spirit and international acclaim.

Curated by Dr Silvia Micheli (University of Queensland), Tanja Taglietti (Taglietti Studio and Archive), and Virginia Rigney (Canberra Museum and Gallery), the exhibition also features a partnership project with the University of Canberra’s Masters Program in Design and Built Environment, presenting new architectural models inspired by Taglietti’s legacy.
